Zaratan Allocation Request

How to get time on the Zaratan cluster

All faculty should be eligible for a free allocation of up to 550 KSU on Zaratan provided by Campus.  All faculty are eligible for a free 50 KSU with up to 500 KSU more available through a proposal process. The details are available on the HPCC website and the form to request an allocation

A KSU is 1000 SU (Service Units) which is equal to a CPU core for one hour.  50 KSU is equal to 50,000 CPU hours.  GPU's have a premium of 48x (for nVidia A100) and 144x (for nVidia H100).

Additional users can be added later by sending an email to hpcc-help@umd.edu(link sends e-mail).  Students working on research projects are typically added as allowable users to the Faculty's allocation

If you need additional KSU, you may purchase allocation through this form (for Engineering).  There are also options for purchasing additional storage.

There are two routes (Engineering and campus-wide) to apply for additional SU's. Details about applying for more SUs from the College of Engineering will be forthcoming. You can currently apply for additional SU's from the campus-wide allocation committee.  A complete list of the software available on the cluster is here.  Technical questions concerning the cluster including how to get software package install on the cluster should be directed to this email address: hpcc-help@umd.edu
