Google has announced an elimination of its unlimited storage policy that goes into effect in July 2022.  This is will require some users to review the data that they have stored on Google Drive, Gmail, and Photos.  The current recommendation is to get your storage consumption under 100 GB.  This page will be updated as more is known on our local guidelines and implementation.  Please, do not remove files that you need.  This is one of the best places that you can store your files in terms of ease of access and sharing.

You can check your storage consumption while logged into google drive. This breaks the consumption down by Drive, Gmail, and Photos.  This will let you know where you should focus your time on cleaning up. Here is the specific guidance from Google on how to approach storage clean-up.

Drive.

Find the largest files and determine if you need them.

1. Sort your files from largest to smallest with this link.
2. Delete the files that you no longer need.
3. Empty Trash

It may take 24 hours for files deleted in trash to be reflected in your storage amount.

Gmail.  

Find emails with large attachments.

1. In the Search box, type has:attachment larger:10M.
2. Click Search.Note: Replace "10" with a higher number to delete larger files.
3. Select the emails you don't need, then click Delete.
4. On the left side of the page, click Menu then Trash.
5. At the top, click Empty trash now.

Google Photos. 

Do you have personal photos that can be removed?

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. Point to an item you want to move to Trash.
3. At the top left, click Select Checkmark.
4. At the top right, click Delete  >  Move to trash.
