  4. On the first screen, you will need to input “vpn.umd.edu” if it is not pre-populated for you.

  1. Click “Connect” after the text box is filled in.  Select the group and fill in your username and password.

    1. Group
      1. UMAccess-MFA - Select this group if:
        1. You need access to KFS and other secure campus systems.
        2. You are a Tier 3 customer needs access to your work desktop or file server. (This applies to most staff and others who don't have admin access.)
      2. UMD - Select this group if
        1. You are a Tier 1 or 2 customer and have admin access on your computer. (This applies to most researchers.)
        2. You need all traffic to go through the VPN such as when you are in a location where internet access is restricted.  More information is included for this option below under "Username."
    2. Username

      1. Your normal campus username (part before the @umd.edu of your campus email address) is the most common option.

      2. Add “.all” to your username (UMD group only) if you want everything to go over the campus VPN.  This is useful as access to some resources such as Google is blocked in some countries. This setup will allow you to access the blocked resources.

    3. Password
      1. Campus password will be used.

      2. For MFA group options, the second password box is for Duo.  You can type “push” for a Duo push or you can enter the Duo code from your token or Duo app.
