Loaner Laptop Program

Information regarding loaner laptops provided by the EIT Service Desk.

The EIT Service Desk offers laptops for temporary use by Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students in our supported departments.

Loaner Checkout Limitations

The Service Desk provides Windows 11 loaner laptops free of charge for temporary use. All loaner laptops owned by the Service Desk MUST be returned in a timely manner. If you need a laptop for work or work from home, please contact your department about ordering one for you. The Service Desk will provide quotes to suit your computing needs.

Due to workload and demand, the EIT Service Desk will only loan out to a single individual/group 2 Loaner Laptops at a time during Fall/Spring, or up to 5 Loaner Laptops during Summer. If you need more than 2 Loaner Laptops at a time in the Fall or Spring (or more than 5 over Summer), please refer to this link to the UMD Libraries equipment checkout program.
"UMD Libraries has a variety of general-use equipment, from calculators to projectors and plenty of things in between! Our general-use equipment is first-come, first-serve and typically cannot be borrowed overnight or reserved in advance. To borrow general-use equipment, bring your UMD ID and visit the Tech Desk (McKeldin 2nd floor), the STEM Library service desk, or the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library service desk.

Need to borrow items for a longer period of time, or looking for specialty equipment? Explore the options below to learn about our long-term use laptops, media production equipment, equipment for studying, health, and wellness, and more. To reserve long-term equipment, please submit the request form at least 24 hours in advance of your need."
