Avoiding Permanent Deletion of Older Panopto Videos

Videos not viewed in 36 months will be deleted per the campus Panopto video retention policy. This article explains how to view your list of archived videos in Panopto and restore from archive videos you would like to retain.

Beginning December 30th, 2025, videos in Panopto not viewed in the last 3 years will be permanently deleted.

View Archived Panopto Videos 

View your currently archived Panopto videos here:

  • Videos are archived if not viewed after 13 months. 
  • Videos are permanently deleted if not viewed for 36 months. 

Note: Not every video listed at the above link will be deleted permanently on December 30th. 

  • If the archived information says “Archived by a content retention policy 2 years ago…” the video is likely scheduled for deletion December 30th. 
  • If you have videos listed here, and want to keep them long term: 
    • Restore from Archive 
    • Restoration can take up to 48 hours, you will receive an email when completed. 
    • After restoring, you need to view the video to prevent deletion. View for a few seconds for Panopto to register a view.

Restore Single Archived Video

To restore a single video from archive, open archived videos, hover over the video and click “Restore from Archive”

Restore Multiple Archived Videos

To Restore multiple videos in bulk,  open archived videos, hover over video listing and click on the checkbox in the upper left.
Then click on the Restore icon that will appear after you select at least one archived video.

Remember to view a few seconds of the video after you receive the email notifying you that the video has been restored!
