Generic Zoom rooms
Using a generic Zoom room for a department or office purpose such as virtual office hours
If you need to use a generic Zoom for virtual office hours, there are a few items you should be aware of.
- If you are not logged in with the account that was used to create the Zoom room, you will not be the host which will impact what permissions you have. It may also cause other issues so it is recommended to use the Google account that was used to create the Zoom room.
- Whatever account you are logged into on the Zoom client (this is usually installed unless you are on a Chromebook) is the one that will impact how the room behaves. It does not matter if you were logged into a different account via the web as the Zoom client will be launched and those settings are what matters. The links below provide more information for how to determine what account is logged in and how to switch accounts.
